Join us on Wednesday, August 18th from 4-8pm at Shelter Cove Community Park for fun, hands-on exhibits and activities all designed to teach children, and their families about the importance of clean water in their community and daily lives, as well as how to protect their local watershed from pollution. All ages are welcome! Interactive activities will include lantern making (Culture HHI!), touch tank and salt marsh critters, tie-die shirt making, Enviroscape Watershed model, recycling demonstration and Q & A, eco-art, and more!! i2 Recycle will be on hand to answer questions about recycling and to collect “hard-to-recycle” items: laptops, batteries, cell phones, CFLS, charger cords.
From 3-5pm we will host a kayak-based clean up of the Broad Creek from the Outside Hilton Head kiosk in Shelter Cove Marina. Volunteers are invited to walk, bike, kayak or boat to collect litter and marine debris from the Broad Creek water way, the shorelines, and the marina area. All clean up supplies will be provided.
