About the Turtle Trot 5k
Race proceeds benefit the Palmetto Dunes Cares Fund. Since inception in 2018, PD Cares has awarded over $216,000 to local non-profits in the greater Hilton Head area that support our local youth. In 2023 alone we awarded more than $71,000.00 to the youth in the greater Hilton Head and Bluffton area including scholarships to two local high school seniors. Additionally, we are creating new initiatives that focus on building an environmental stewardship community that actively supports and engages our local youth & all who live, visit, and work in Palmetto Dunes. Funds raised by Palmetto Dunes Cares are awarded as grants through the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL) a 501(c)(3) organization managing over 300 local funds.
Inclement weather plan – Safety for our participants, volunteers, and staff is our number #1 concern. Any decision we make regarding the production or cancellation of the event will be made with their interest first and foremost. If mother nature does not cooperate on race morning – we will delay the event until the conditions are safe – this delay will continue for a reasonable amount of time until we deem it necessary to cancel the event.
