On April 1, 2015 the new Shelter Cove Community Park was officially opened. The park was completed through a public/private partnership between the Town of Hilton Head Island and the developers of Shelter Cove Towne Centre. Upcoming events in the park are planned by the Towne Centre, the Island Recreation Center and many community efforts, with support from the Shelter Cove Company. The new Shelter Cove Community Park offers residents and visitors a lively roster of year-round festivals and events as well as a playground full of fun features, peaceful picnic spots, a performance pavilion, a public art display, walking paths and breathtaking water views. A unique water fountain designed just for the Shelter Cove Community Park is the focal point at the entrance, located near the intersection of Shelter Cove Lane and Towne Centre Drive. Bike corrals are featured to allow the many bicyclists easy access to this new amenity to the Shelter Cove area.
Whether it's attending one of the popular island events or just spending an afternoon of relaxation taking in the natural surroundings, there is something for everyone to enjoy year round.
